My name is Nesma Dahlan,my husbands name is Hussein Hammad. I am 26 years old and married. I was on the verge of fulfilling my dream of becoming a mother when the war shattered my life. I lost my pregnancy after being forced into a miscarriage under brutal bombardment—my babies died along with a piece of my soul.
I was displaced to Al-Mawasi after our neighborhood, Hayy Al-Amal, was invaded. There was no food, no water, and no connection to the outside world. There, I was devastated to learn that my uncles, aunts, their daughters and children were all killed. Later, my brother and his son were also martyred.
And as if that pain wasn’t enough, our home—our beautiful house that felt like a small palace full of warmth and love—was completely destroyed and burned to the ground. We lost every memory, every shelter, every piece of safety we had.
Despite all the heartbreak, I tried to continue my university studies, but I couldn’t afford the fees and had to put my education on hold. My husband suffers from a chronic bladder
